MVK Heaven But Wish The Remote Was IR
This review is from: Boxee
Box by D-Link
Many of the negative reviews around here appear to be due to Boxee
missing some online content provider (Netflix, Hulu, Vudu, etc). I
trust that the Boxee folks will make due on their promises and get
those out in early 2011. For me, I don't really care about those
features. I bought the Boxee for it's excellent MKV and codec support
for playing back local files. The box is small, quiet, and slick. If
you've never used Boxee then I suggest you first download it for your
PC and give it a try before you buy. I prefer Plex over Boxee on my Mac
Mini but I got the Boxee Box for my bedroom and I'm happy with my pick
to far. The remote is nice, but since it's RF (or Bluetooth?) I'm
unable to use my Harmony remote to control the box. This is a bummer
but since it's my bedroom box I can deal.
I went back and forth between the WD Live and the Boxee Box but I'm glad I spend the extra for the Boxee. I think the codec support is better, I like the cover art and TV season support and I suspect that it will continue to improve with every firmware update.
