Exactly what I've always wanted

Box by D-Link
My household has multiple computers in it. So I use a NAS to store all
of my photos, music, and videos in a central location that can be
accessed from anywhere in the house. I have been using the Boxee
software for Windows for more than a year and was an avid XBMC user for
years before that. Boxee for Windows was great on my laptop but of
course it wasn't great to tether my laptop to my television set. What I
really needed was a dedicated media player device that would play all
of the content I had stored on my NAS. The Boxee Box is perfect for what
I need. Some people might say it needs a hard drive. Why?
With only one hard drive, you're going to fill it up fairly quickly and
then what do you do? Network storage is really the best solution for
expandable and centralized storage. The Boxee Box setup was super
simple, just three plugs on the back, log into their service and add my
network sources. Took only about 5 minutes before I was watching
something. The Boxee Box video performance is far and away better than
what I was able to get with the software on my laptop. 12gb 1080p
movies that once ran a bit choppy on my laptop now play perfectly
smooth on the Boxee Box. The
video and audio always stayed in sync, I use many formats like MKV,
MP4, MPEG2, and WMV and the Boxee Box plays them all perfectly.
So for a media player it's awesome. I appreciate that their app
development has been open thus allowing a lot of streaming content
providers to bring their content to Boxee. Also, when I turned on my
Boxee Box for the first time, there was already a software update.
That's a huge feature in the Boxee Box, not only does it automatically
update but I've seen Boxee update their Windows and Mac software on a
regular basis over the past year. So it's not a static box, you're not
stuck with the functionality, content, or the kinks it ships with. I
have a lot of confidence that the Boxee Box will evolve and get better
over time. I also really enjoy the social features on the Boxee Box, it
will scan my Twitter and Facebook pages for video links that my friends
post and put them into my "watch later" list in Boxee. Sure, my friends
mostly post silly little videos but it's fun to go through them for 10
minutes for a couple laughs every day. If you have a lot of stored
media on your home network and you need a media player to get that
content to your home theater system, Boxee Box is the product you need
to buy. For video streaming, the Boxee Box may not have all the big
content providers but they're getting them and will always add more,
you can't count on the other guys to expand and evolve the software
like Boxee does. <<<Click Here To See Review>>>
